Welcome to Bradenton Florida
A Great Place to Live
Originally known as the Village of Manatee, Bradenton is the largest Manatee County city, with a population of approximately 50,000. The City was discovered in 1539, by Hernando DeSoto when he landed on Shaw's Point to begin
his 4,000 mile trek in search of "the lost city of gold." Each spring Bradenton commemorates his landing with a month-long celebration called "The Florida
Heritage Festival."
Bradenton is the largest city in Manatee County. Located just to the north of Sarasota, Bradenton offers its residents and visitors a casual, relaxing lifestyle that everyone finds appealing. Bradenton is a
fabulous place for young families, professionals, baby boomers, and retirees. Take leisurely walks on the beach, enjoy every type of boating, fishing and sailing, including scuba diving and, of course, play golf on
numerous public and private golf courses.
For golfers, Bradenton Florida is an extremely attractive place to live. Bradenton golf courses range from private courses like Bradenton
Country Club, founded in 1924 and "the Concession," named to the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S" by Golf Magazine, an 18-hole par 72 course to
semi-private courses like Waterlefe Golf & River Club, an 18-hole course running alongside the Manatee River, to municipal courses like
River Run Golf Course. And these are only three of the many golf courses in Bradenton.
For the whole family, there is a constant flow of family-focused activities that are fun and entertaining for residents and visitors of all ages including
The Annual Bradenton Holiday Boat Parade when each Christmas-time, a flotilla of boats decorated with festive lights, inflatable statues and Christmas trees and boisterous crews, participates in the annual Bradenton Holiday Boat Parade.
Another fun thing to do is the Village of the Arts Art Walk. Village of the Arts is a downtown Bradenton community of over 35 artists living and working together in Florida's largest art community.
Art Walks are scheduled Friday and Saturday on the first weekend of every month. There are informal galleries, bookshops,
collectibles shops, gourmet cafes as well as special events and art-related lectures open to the public held from time to time.
